Tips for Dealing With Discomfort
The discomfort associated with braces is inconvenient, but manageable. When it does occur, it is only for a few days following application or adjustment. Over-the-counter medications, such as acetaminophin and ibuprofen, for relieving mouth soreness and headaches associated with getting used to braces is perfectly fine. Rinsing with salt water to help alleviate discomfort and swelling is also helpful.
Use Wax
You can also apply wax to the braces to keep them from rubbing against the inside of your mouth. Our orthodontic assistants should have explained how and where to apply the wax for discomfort, but, should you have any further questions please feel free to call our office. We are always here to help!
